Visas and arrival
Do I need a visa for Vietnam?
Visa requirements depend on your passport nationality, travel dates, length of stay and entry arrangements. Check which rules apply before committing to flights and accommodation. Your departure country or preferred language does not establish your passport nationality.
For help preparing your application and checking service fees and timing, explore our visa application assistance. Approval and admission remain subject to the Vietnamese authorities.
Is visa assistance the same as airport fast track?
Visa assistance concerns preparing and submitting application documents. Fast track provides assistance with airport procedures. They are separate services; neither replaces immigration checks or guarantees visa approval, entry or a fixed clearance time.
Our Vietnam PAI arrival guide explains a further part of arrival preparation. Follow the official process applicable to your journey.
Connectivity and packing
Should I choose a physical SIM or an eSIM?
An eSIM can suit an unlocked, compatible phone when you want connectivity on arrival. Choose a physical SIM if your phone does not support eSIM or you prefer a removable card. Check validity, data, hotspot sharing and whether a local phone number is included.
Follow your plan’s installation and activation instructions. Read our Vietnam SIM and eSIM guide for the choices and setup steps.
You can also ask Chung Ta Travel for help purchasing a Vietnam SIM or eSIM. Share your phone model, travel dates and data needs so we can confirm a suitable plan, activation instructions and cost. Prices are confirmed when ordering or during consultation.
Do I still need cash after paying for my tour?
Bring a modest amount of Vietnamese dong for personal purchases, snacks and any on-site costs not included in your booking. How much you need depends on the meals, tickets and transport already covered.
Check the exchange rate, fees and receipt when changing money. Keep cash in separate places rather than carrying your whole travel budget together.
What clothes and essentials should I pack?
Pack for your destinations, travel month and activities. Comfortable walking shoes help in cities, while beach days call for sun protection and a change of clothes. Northern mountain areas and air-conditioned transport can require different layers.
Check the destination forecast before departure and any clothing or equipment requirements for boats, hikes and religious sites. Keep personal medicines and important documents in your hand luggage.
Private cars and guides
Can you pick up from a hotel, apartment, home or airport?
Provide the full address, flight details, passenger numbers and luggage when enquiring. We can then confirm the service area, meeting point and vehicle. Private transfers and day tours have different pickup arrangements; not every trip meets at Ben Thanh Market.
For narrow streets, remote stays or places where vehicles cannot stop, another nearby pickup point may be needed. Waiting time, late-night and out-of-area charges depend on the booked service.
What should I check in a private-car quote?
Compare the route, stops, hours and vehicle capacity for both passengers and luggage. Ask about tolls, parking, overtime, night-time and out-of-area charges to understand the full day’s cost.
Admission, boat tickets, meals and a Mandarin-speaking guide are listed separately where applicable. Our Vietnam private-car price and vehicle guide can help you prepare an enquiry.
Does the driver speak Mandarin? Can I book a guide?
Driving and guiding are different services. If you want cultural explanations, attraction visits or Mandarin communication support, ask about a private Mandarin-speaking guide. Do not expect every driver to provide guided commentary in Mandarin.
Share the city, date, required language and places of interest so we can confirm the service hours and personnel available.
Families and group sizes
Can I book alone, and will I join other travellers?
Solo booking, minimum numbers and whether a trip is shared depend on the product. Private and shared trips have different pricing and participation rules; a displayed per-person price does not by itself confirm a solo departure.
Tell us the actual group size so we can check suitable services and a quotation.
Can a trip suit children or older relatives?
Discuss walking distances, vehicle changes, rest breaks and hotel locations with us. If you bring a stroller or wheelchair, or need a child seat, confirm vehicle space, equipment and attraction access before booking.
Include children’s ages and the assistance your companions need. We can discuss alternatives to boat trips, numerous steps or more strenuous activities.
How many people can travel together?
Capacity depends on vehicles, accommodation and each activity. For a family, company or golfing group, send the headcount and plans so we can check transport, rooms and guide arrangements.
Larger groups may need multiple vehicles or smaller activity groups. The arrangement and costs are explained with the confirmed plan.
Meals and travel needs
Can you arrange vegetarian or vegan meals?
Tell us whether you eat eggs and dairy, follow a vegan diet or avoid other ingredients. We will check options with restaurants along the route; the flexibility varies by restaurant and itinerary.
A vegetarian meal may still be served in a restaurant preparing meat. Please say in advance if you require a fully vegan restaurant or separate utensils.
Can meals accommodate a food allergy?
Before booking, explain the ingredient, severity and contact you need to avoid so we can check with restaurants. An adjusted dish does not establish an allergen-free kitchen or eliminate cross-contact.
If a restaurant cannot meet your needs, we can discuss alternatives. We cannot promise that every meal can accommodate an allergy before checking.
Are drinking water and snacks included?
Check the inclusions for your particular service to see whether water, meals or snacks are provided. For longer walks or outdoor activities, carry suitable extra water and any snacks you need.
Let us know before departure about children’s meals, dietary requirements or a need for regular meal times.
Does the trip include travel insurance?
Check whether your selected service explicitly includes insurance, who qualifies and which activities are covered. Insurance for a local activity does not necessarily cover medical expenses, luggage, cancellation or every part of an overseas trip.
Consider additional cover appropriate to your itinerary. The insurer’s policy documents determine the actual coverage and claims conditions.
Booking, payment and changes
How far ahead should I book?
Enquire once you have approximate dates, particularly for groups, holidays, overnight cruises and golf tee times that need more supplier coordination. Last-minute requests are welcome, but cars, guides and rooms still need availability confirmation.
Include dates, group size and places of interest to help us suggest a useful plan.
Is a deposit required, and when is the balance due?
Deposit amounts, payment deadlines and balance dates follow the selected product or confirmed quote. Before paying, check the total, inclusions, cancellation conditions and payment schedule rather than applying one trip’s deposit terms to every service.
Keep the transaction record and check that you receive the corresponding booking or service confirmation.
Which payment methods can I use?
Choose a method supported by the checkout or payment instructions supplied by the company. Available cards, transfers and other online options depend on the actual payment channel. The company does not accept cash or payment on arrival.
Other displayed currencies are for reference. Confirm settlement and the final amount through the payment information and payment page.
What happens if I change dates, cancel or face bad weather?
Send the booking reference and requested change as early as possible. Changes, price differences and cancellation charges depend on the service terms, time before departure and the relevant hotel, cruise or other supplier.
Weather or operational disruption is handled according to the actual arrangements. See the refund policy, service delivery policy and your confirmed booking for applicable conditions.
