Six Days in Phu Quoc with Family

This Phu Quoc family group had 14 travellers. They flew from Kaohsiung via Ho Chi Minh City for six days and five nights on the island: three nights in the south, followed by two in the north, with one hotel change.

ChungTa Travel hosted the group in October 2026. The itinerary put Bai Khem Beach, Sunset Town and the Hon Thom cable car in the first half, followed by the northern safari and theme park. Arrival day was kept for check-in and dinner, while the park days also allowed time back at the hotel.

Stay in the south first, then spend two nights in the north

The family attractions in this itinerary lie at opposite ends of Phu Quoc. Sunset Town, Bai Khem Beach and the cable car to Hon Thom are in the south; Vinpearl Safari, VinWonders and Grand World are in the north. A six-day trip leaves four middle days for the main activities once arrival and departure are accounted for.

The plan specified Roma Hotel or a hotel of a similar standard for the first three nights. On day four, the group would take their luggage north and stay at VinHolidays Fiesta or a similar-standard hotel for two nights. VinHolidays Fiesta is in the Grand World area, making this a practical base for the northern part of the route.

One hotel change keeps the southern activities together and the northern parks together, rather than repeating the same north–south journey every day. The moving day still needs time for checkout, loading bags and managing luggage. Strollers and large suitcases matter when choosing the vehicle.

This group's plan specified a 29-seat air-conditioned coach and a Chinese-speaking guide. That was a choice for this group's size and route, not a requirement for every family. Smaller groups can discuss a different vehicle and accommodation arrangement.

Day 1 | Check in before heading out for dinner

The group departed from Kaohsiung and connected in Ho Chi Minh City for Phu Quoc. With children, two flights also mean waiting, walking between terminal areas and finding the next gate. On arrival, the plan went straight to airport pickup and hotel check-in, without adding a major sightseeing stop.

Dinner on the first evening was planned at Vị – Vietnamese Bistro, followed by free time at VUI-Fest night market. An open evening lets those who want a walk stay out a little longer, while tired family members can return to their rooms.

OASIS Spa was an optional, separately paid activity. Not everyone had to join. After a travel day, putting down the bags and having dinner before deciding whether to go out again is a useful way to keep the evening manageable.

Flight choices depend on your departure airport and travel dates. For a family with children or older relatives, compare the connection as well as the departure time: walking distances, terminal changes and whether bags can be checked through all affect the journey. Arrange transfers against the actual tickets.

Day 2 | A beach morning and an evening in Sunset Town

The plan placed Bai Khem Beach in the morning, followed by free time, lunch and Sunset Town. Family members do not all need to choose the same beach activity: some may want to swim, while others prefer a walk or photographs near the water.

Snorkelling and stand-up paddleboarding were optional activities at an additional cost. A beach stop does not mean everyone joined a water activity. With children, decisions about entering the sea need to take account of the conditions, local instructions and adult supervision.

Sunset Town was the afternoon stop, with the seafront, steps, buildings and the Kiss Bridge area offering different walking routes. Leaving time to sit down for a drink before dinner can make the evening easier than walking continuously until a show starts.

Dinner was planned at Sun Bavaria Gastro. If you would like an evening show on your own trip, check Sun World's performance dates and ticket options before choosing a dinner time. Show seasons and schedules can change, so book for your actual travel date.

Day 3 | Hon Thom by cable car, with time for water activities and rest

The cable-car cabin has benches, with views of the sea and island shore through the windows. The group took a photograph inside. For family photographs, settle into the cabin and secure loose belongings first; pay attention to your footing and other passengers while boarding and leaving.

The Hon Thom cable car links the An Thoi area in the south with Hon Thom. The crossing itself gives a view over the water. The itinerary combined the cable car and island activities on one day, with lunch at Buffet Mango, time for Aquatopia, the beach and free activities, then an afternoon return to the hotel.

A family does not need to follow one identical route around a large park. Those swimming need a change of clothes; those not entering the water need a place to rest in the shade. Children's height, energy and supervision requirements also affect which attractions are suitable. Spare clothes, a towel and a bag for wet clothing are useful things to pack.

Plan the return around that day's cable-car operations, and agree on the meeting point before splitting up. Weather and maintenance can affect both the cable car and water attractions, so keep the order of activities flexible rather than promising every attraction.

The evening plan specified Sorrento Restaurant & Bar, followed by free time. After a cable-car and park day, the itinerary did not add another sequence of sightseeing stops at night.

Day 4 | Check out, travel north and visit the river, Safari and Grand World

Day four was the only hotel-change day. After breakfast and checkout, the luggage would travel north with the group, without a return journey to collect it. The plan included a basket-boat activity on the Cua Can River, Vinpearl Safari, northern hotel check-in and a later walk around Grand World.

Combining the move with northern attractions follows the direction of travel, but this was also one of the busier days. Boarding a boat, getting off, lunch, Safari and check-in each take time. A family with relatives who tire easily or children needing a regular nap could remove one activity rather than shorten every stop.

Vinpearl Safari includes a semi-wild area and other animal-viewing areas, so a visit works differently from a theme park. Discuss the areas you want to see, the park's viewing vehicles, walking and breaks with your guide. Join animal interactions only where staff permit them, and do not feed animals independently.

Grand World was placed after northern check-in, so the evening walk, photographs and dinner would not be followed by a drive back south. Seafood and free time were planned for the evening. The Quintessence of Vietnam show was an optional activity at an additional cost, depending on the family's interest and energy.

If your family would like a canal-boat ride, leave the evening less tightly scheduled: have dinner, take a walk and choose activities according to current availability and tickets. A riverside stroll and a few family photographs can also be enough for the evening.

Day 5 | The castle entrance, theme park and aquarium

The group took a photograph in front of the castle entrance at VinWonders. This day's plan combined the park and aquarium while leaving time to return to the hotel in the afternoon. Family members could choose areas that suited their energy.

The itinerary included land and water attractions, with the giant turtle-shaped aquarium as a highlight. VinWonders and The Sea Shell aquarium form part of the same park visit. Those keen on rides and those more interested in the aquarium need not follow the same route throughout.

For a larger group, a clear meeting point makes splitting up more practical. Adults looking after children can choose suitable areas while others visit their preferred attractions. Lunch was left to each traveller in the park, with meal costs paid individually.

The afternoon retained time back at the hotel. The plan also listed dinner at The Haven Beach Club as a separately paid option. It can be booked for those interested without requiring tired family members to go out again.

Meals for a family group

The six-day plan mixed Vietnamese food, seafood and meals in the parks. With 14 travellers, restaurant choices need to account for seating and service as well as children's preferences, allergies and other dietary requirements.

When planning a family group, tell us who avoids seafood, whether anyone is vegetarian and whether children prefer milder dishes. We can then discuss restaurants alongside the daily route. Seating and the pace of serving matter for a group meal; the actual dishes depend on the booking date and restaurant availability.

Day 6 | Breakfast, bags and the journey home

The final day's plan did not add a major attraction. After breakfast and checkout, it allowed for the airport transfer and a flight back to Kaohsiung via Ho Chi Minh City. Packing, checkout and the drive to the airport take time, so no further stop was added.

Agree the luggage count, hotel departure time and airport meeting arrangements in advance. Connecting passengers also need to check baggage arrangements, terminal changes and check-in deadlines against their actual tickets. Keeping the final day for breakfast and departure reduces unnecessary rushing.

Adapt the six days to your family's preferences

This route combined southern beaches and the cable car with northern animals and theme parks, one hotel change, a private vehicle and a Chinese-speaking guide. It suits a family that wants to travel together without each person working out daily transport.

Not every family needs the same number of parks. With younger children, remove a major attraction and leave more hotel and nap time. If the sea is the main reason for the trip, reduce northern activities and keep accommodation more concentrated. Families who dislike changing hotels need to weigh the hotel area against the daily travel distance.

This is a completed group's route and photographs, not a fixed-departure package with every item included at one set price. Hotels, vehicle, tickets, meals, optional activities and service hours need to be confirmed for your dates and group.
